Quick brewery update
I brewed an Ironman Pale Ale yesterday and Justin is brewing an Irish Red Ale today. Later this week we’ll brew a Bishops Breakfast and maybe a Pagan Porter. After flicking through the latest Mid Atlantic Brewing News yesterday I’ve decided that I’d better jump on the “Imperial” bandwagon and brew a Double Imperial Dark Mild …. or maybe not. Is it my imagination or has the term Imperial (as in Russian Imperial Stout) lost it’s meaning these days … it just seems to be a prefix for any beer that is stronger and/or has more hops in than would normally be expected of the style! Am I the only one who thinks that it’s become a bit of a joke? Should I start referring to my barley wine as an Imperial amber ale? Speaking of “more hops” I’ll be filling a couple of firkins of a double hopped Blonde ale tomorrow for future rotation on hand pump at the Ale House…..nothing Imperial about it though, it’s never been near a Royal Court!
In firkin at The Metropolitan Coffee House on S. Charles Street this Thursday evening will be our very last firkin of Chelsea Best so get one while you can. I hope to see some of you there. On cask at the Ale House at the moment is the Nut Brown Ale which will be followed by the oatmeal stout with cacao nibs and then of course the Oak Aged 3 Lions for the release party on Wednesday 12th.
