Is that a pumpkin I see before me?
The Brewer’s Choice cask is now the Bishop’s Breakfast oatmeal stout, a great fall beer! Up next will be the Harvest Ale, a 5.2 % abv amber ale brewed with honey, another great Fall brew. The general release date for the Harvest Ale is Wednesday 16th September which is pint night at the Ale House with $3 pints of Oliver Ales from 7pm until close (this excludes cask ales, they have their own special night every Tuesday from 5pm until close!)
I’ve been reading a lot on the beer blogs about pumpkin beers recently, not surprising really, it’s that time of year I suppose! What did surprise me though was how polarized reactions are to them. There seems to be no middle ground, people either seem to love them or hate them with a passion! I myself have never been particularly smitten with the style but we’ve been receiving a lot of inquiries as to whether we’ll be brewing one so maybe it’s time to throw my hat into the ring on this one! As it happens, a homebrewer friend of mine, Mr. Tony Scott, brews a fine pumpkin beer so I’ll be having some conversations with him regarding the recipe (yes, even professional brewer’s seek advice from homebrewers from time to time!) and maybe a pumpkin beer will appear on our schedule next week. This may be a little late in the day by some people’s standards but I get the feeling that they put their Christmas decorations up at Halloween so I’m content to be “fashionably late” with this one, if indeed it happens at all. I’ll keep you posted.
